What an Energy Auditor does is to dream of being the best auditor there is. A formal education is required as well as practical experience. Most of the hands on is acquired after the completion of school. An auditor will work under a more experienced auditor to learn how to apply what has been learned.
This will last for a period of about three years, although it could vary to some extent depending on how much formal education one has. Some education practices include work study in the programs which gives the auditor some ideas about the functionality of the job.
Evaluation of all electrical devices that pertain to energy are one of the functions that they complete. Other factors associated with job duties are checking insulation, thermostats, and weather stripping, to make sure everything is working as it should be. They will check attics and basements, windows and ceilings. This is what they specialize in doing and they do it well.
When you schedule your professional examination allow for two to four hours for it to be completed effectively. The timing will depend on the size of your home. There are many things that the auditor must evaluate and consider as he analyses the proficiency of systems or the lack thereof in listing his findings.
