Lexus IS 250c was launched at the Paris Motor Show back in 2008, along with many other attractable cars. Lexus has been crafting finest convertibles for so many years, but this time the Japanese car maker has pushed the nail over the German necks. It is expected that the Lexus IS 250c will capture the consumer market by attracting the customers who have never driven Lexus, and also it will compete with other European rivals very strongly.

With its top is down, at first glimpse, you would probably mistake it for the standard Lexus IS sedan. However, when the top slides back into the boot within its record-breaking speed of 20 seconds, you would most likely assume that it is an uncomplicated conversion of the sedan into a two-door coupe with a three metal piece-folding roof. Nevertheless, make no mistake the Lexus IS 250c is a brand new car, which although has been loosely based on the standard IS version, has only few bits & pieces in common.

The engine and gearbox are same. Both models have the 60-degree V6, which produces 153kW at 6400rpm, and 252Nm at 4800rpm, which utilises 9.3 litres of fuel for each 100km, and produces 219 grams/kilometre of CO2. The gearbox is available in six speed variants of both the automatic & manual. Apart from this, the only body parts in common are the bonnet, headlights, door mirrors, and dashboard.

The engineering of this car is done by the same person who has developed the chassis of the supreme car, Toyota Supra. This is the reason that while driving this car, you would feel sitting in Sedan. It all has been done with additional reinforcements under the skin of the car. The car is available in three models: Prestige, Luxury Sports and Sports, and all these models are different in their body weights. However, all cars have seven under-body braces, bigger rear brakes, three different grades of high strength steel and four internal floor reinforcements.

However, the engine is not overworked and does not require more juice. The IS250 consumes 9.1L/100Km, while the IS250C does 9.3L/100Km. Only Premium Unleaded 95OCT, or higher is recommended.

Inside the cars, the dashboard and controls are familiar. Although, the Touch Screen 40GB SATNAV, and Audio Player has been tweaked, and upgraded for better sound quality while driving with the roof down. The seats are custom made, and quite spacious for the model range.

In the interior of the cars, the dashboard and controls are recognizable. While, the Touch Screen 40GB SATNAV and the Audio Player have been tweaked, and upgraded for enhanced sound superiority while driving with the roof behind. The seats are custom-built, and quite roomy for the model series.

The safety features have not been compromised in both the cars. Several airbags and heaps of safety characteristics have earned both of them five star upper limit road safety ratings. Nevertheless, the IS250c is encumbered with more airbags and additional body strength. On the whole, the IS-C is a remarkable accumulation to the already prominent IS range, which includes the IS Standard and IS-F. With a further addition like this, Lexus is unquestionably going to make other car makers hit back for the intensive course, and it is no bolt from the blue that the car already has a two-month waiting list in front of its influx in 2010.
